We left the little room at 7am to find a way to get to Slovenia. We took all our stuff and walked to the train station. It wasn’t too hot yet. We got excited because a train was in the station, and since there is only one way out of Pula, we were hoping it was our train.
We love the way the trains are painted. It seems graffiti on local trains is encouraged in a lot of countries we have been to.
Turns out there is a train to Ljubljana, Slovenia, not now but at 6 pm. So now what?
They have no luggage storage at this train station, like most others do, so we haul our stuff to the bus station where we can leave it for some hours. So now we can see the town.
First we went back to the Arena.
While excavating for a foundation, another ancient building was discovered. Those Romans were everywhere.
Before we left the bus station, I asked a taxi driver how much it would cost to go to the train station with our luggage. He said 50 kunas, about $ 9. Seemed a lot since we had just walked that way without difficulty. So now we made our way to a taxi stand from the end of our ramblings around town. At first we asked how much, but found it better to say, will you take us to the train, after stopping at the bus for 50 kunas.
Before we left for this trip, many people told us to make sure we went to Croatia, since they loved it there. Well we have gone to Croatia and we have not been disappointed by the scenery, but we have been disappointed by the way we were treated. Unlike any other place we have visited, we have felt like tourist meat. Taken advantage of whenever possible. For example, when paying for ice cream that costs 14 kunas, we were asked for 28 kunas. When I noticed, she was all apologies. If that happened once it would be forgotten, but with the car ride in Brozava and the taxi in Pula and the old lady in Pula and others, it seems to be a pattern.
So, off we go to Ljubljana. We found out you pronounce that Lubliana.
